Swingy maxi

I bought this skirt in gray and I love it. It is so comfortable. I, too, nearly freaked out when I washed it the first time. I used the delicate hand wash cycle on my washing machine. When I hung it up to dry it looked about 6 inches shorter! After an initial panic, I left it hanging up knowing that I could easily return it to CC without any problems as they really do stand behind their clothing. By morning it was dry and back to the original length. Phew! I was relieved. I think the weight of the wet fabric pulls it back down to the original length.

So many others warned that when washed, even following tagged instructions, they had problems with this skirt. I, too, hand washed, laid flat to dry and the length shrank about 4". For the amount of money spent I am very disappointed! How easy is it to return for exchange or credit at store with no receipts?

I HAND WASHED IN COLD WATER , DRIED IN TOWEL, SHRANK 3-4 INCHES BEFORE IT EVEN DRIED !!!!! I have never had problem with cwc items when you follow directions, very disappointed, I have three of these skirts and love wearing them but if I can not wash them I don't want them !

I love this skirt. It's so comfortable and swingy. You can dress it up or down. Mine did not shrink when I washed it because I read the instructions. You need to hand wash and line dry. The only thing is that the big band around the waist kind of ripples, but other than that, no problems at all. I get many compliments, too.

I think this skirt is really cute and I love the colors. Though it is a little short, I am ok with that. The problem for me is the wide waistband. I think it is a good concept, but unless you are pencil thin, it just doesn't flatter. I am a size 8 and I feel like this makes my hips look huge.

In this skirt, and the french stripe maxi skirt at CC, the fabric is 100 per cent rayon. Other maxis at CC are a combination of rayon and spandex. Rayon is a great flowy, soft fabric but finicky. When I took this swingy gray maxi skirt out of the washer it was at least 6 inches shorter than before it was washed! I was pretty shocked. But this morning after hanging it to dry overnight I was very pleased to see that it had 'grown' back to almost its original length. I think the weight of the wet garment caused it to stretch back. The washing instructions say to lay flat to dry and maybe that is why. The other rayon maxis from CC, that have some spandex in them, do shrink too but not nearly as much and so will 'grow' back to their original length. If you want them to shrink more, put them in the dryer. The washing instructions do not recommend this so you have to be careful.

I purchased the gray skirt. It is not a petite, but since I read your review tips, I'm going to wash and dry mine and maybe it will be a petite them. Right now I just pull the band up where the bottom of the band sits at my waist and it works. It even looks like an old fashion pheasant outfit, depending on the top you wear. Anyhow, I'll let you girls know, If you are short like me if this works or not before I order another one or not. I really like the skirt, just not how long it is.

Loved all 3 (different colors) skirts I bought and got lots of nice compliments on them! Then I handwashed in cold water, THAT's where they all shrunk about 6 inches in length and so much all around that there were hardly any pleats left. Didn't matter that I air dried because they shrunk in the cold water. When I called CC, the rep apologized profusely and sent 3 new skirts to replace the shrunken ones and CC paid S&H! GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! However, I ended up getting a full refund for all 3 skirts because I didn't think I'd ever be able to clean them as drycleaning is not recommended for them. Too bad because I really liked the comfy, feminine skirts.

I already wrote one review but now I'm home and have checked the label. I wasn't sure, but it does say to hand wash cold & then lay this skirt flat to dry - no dryer! Probably the reason some are having problems with shrinkage. I did dry the first skirt I got, for a short time, and I did have 1 inch of length shrinkage so I won't put the other rayon skirts in the dryer. EASY FIX - I LOVE THIS SKIRT and I LOVE RAYON.

I was highly disappointed in this skirt that looks so cute online. Sizing is huge. While the skirt fits well through the hips and the length (before washing) is perfect, the elastic band is so wide as to look comical. The color is navy rather than the stunning blue on the website. The material is the biggest disappointment; flimsy and see through. I'll wear it around the pool but had hoped for something to wear to work on casual days or to summertime outdoor events. I fear this is my last order from Coldwater Creek.
